This subject is intended to equip students with the quality of education specifically the necessary knowledge and skills in digital systems that support the concepts of data conversion, compression and transmission in order for them to design and simulate digital combinational and sequential circuit designs. The course covers binary arithmetic, codes, logic gates, Boolean algebra and other related simplification methods, half adders, full adders and other circuits used as building blocks of most computers and digital machines. Also, the different representations including truth table, logic functions, timing diagram, switch representation, and state diagram will as well be emphasized. In addition, this course aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. SDG 9 for it emphasizes the development of a comprehensive understanding of digital electronics, which are crucial components of modern industrial infrastructure.
