The course will explain and examine different approaches and practices in pest management in global, national and local settings. The application of sustainable integrated crop management and integrated pest management will be stressed out in producing quality crops. In this course, students will establish a model vegetable garden employing different approaches and practices in pest management and to produce their own quality crops. Application of synthetic pesticides as the last recourse and most common practices applied in the field will be adopted. Also, the students will learn and appreciate the importance of pesticide safety handling, proper storage, application and disposal. Finishing the course will enable the students to showcase their capability of contributing to food security while ensuring environmental safety.
