The course deals with the  concepts of plant disease  management, the epidemiological basis, crop loss evaluation, economic and social impacts of plant diseases;  basic principles of plant disease management based on practices and on epidemiology, integrated disease management approaches, advances in plant disease management and application of  sustainable  management approaches for  specific groups of plant diseases. This course intends to capacitate the students on how to mitigate the impact of diseases  on plant health in sustainable  crop production system that will ensure attainment of food security while ensuring efficient resource utilization and environment protection thereby contributing directly and indirectly in the attainment of SDG 2 zero hunger, 12 – responsible consumption and production, and 15-life on land.
