This course envisioned students to gain understanding of the basic structures of insects to delineate them from other arthropods. It will also tackle insect diversity, life history, and the role that insects play in the ecosystem and its contribution to human affairs. Moreover, this course will be dealing with the other role of insects as decomposers, in causing diseases in animals and humans and its contribution to human culture. Students will be required to collect representatives of major insect orders and/or families and relate their importance and role in the ecosystem as well as on how to manage them for its conservation leading to sustainable food production.
