The course provides the students with the basic concept and knowledge on identification of plant pathogens, 
introduction to and importance of plant diseases, the nature of disease-causing agents such as fungi, bacteria, 
viruses and viroids, nematodes, and other abiotic factors as well as the principle involved in plant-pathogen 
interactions, environmental effects on the development of infectious plant diseases and the general principles 
of plant disease management. The course will offer a comprehensive understanding of plant diseases and 
their implications for global sustainability which will emphasize the critical role of plant health in achieving a 
more equitable, resilient, and environmentally responsible world for men and women.
