This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the basic concepts, theories, principles, methods, and philosophy of community development, with a specific focus on the Philippine setting. It will contextualize community development work within the historical and contemporary situations of various sectors, as well as the history and models of development that have been applied in the Philippines. The course aims to develop critical thinking among students, sensitize them to gender concerns, and emphasize the need to empower marginalized sectors of Philippine society through community development.
