This course examines the dynamics of communication and the use of language as an effective means of wielding authority. It primarily looks at how language influences our thought and how it varies according to gender, age, ethnicity, and class. It also draws attention to language use in politics and the media and examines how language affects and constructs our identities in order for the students to become articulate scholars and teachers in the contemporary society.
