This course provides the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of the profession with emphasis on its practice on the Philippines and in global perspective. It focuses on the historical development of libraries, types of libraries, and the library profession including the Code of Ethics for librarians, the laws as well as issuances related to librarianship.
