The goal of plant disease management is to reduce the economic and aesthetic damage caused by plant diseases. This course summarizes the methods and strategies used to manage plant diseases by targeting vulnerable points in the pathogen life cycle and disease epidemic. Students utilize knowledge of organismal biology, epidemiology, management chemistry, and economics to develop strategies for managing plant diseases. The principles of Integrated Disease Management, Biotechnology and the use of SMART Agri tools to sustainable disease management are also key components of the course in order to contribute to SDG 2 zero hunger, 12 – responsible consumption and production, and 15-life on land.
