The course is the study of the history of life on earth as based on fossils to determine an organism’s evolution and interactions with each other and their environments. It seeks to discuss the temporal and spatial changes of the earth’s flora and fauna within the context of geological processes, stratigraphy, and evolution.

This course introduces the principles and methods of analytical chemistry as applied to geological and engineering problems. It emphasizes qualitative and quantitative analysis, laboratory safety, data interpretation, and proper reporting of results, using selected examples from Philippine mineral resources and mining-related materials to contextualize analytical techniques.
