This course provides a rigorous, theory-driven, and empirically-focused examination of the labor market at the graduate level. It employs microeconomic tools and econometric analysis to model labor supply, labor demand, human capital investment, wage determination, inequality, and labor market institutions. Emphasis is placed on understanding current theoretical models, critically evaluating empirical evidence, and applying these insights to analyze contemporary labor market policies. Special attention is given to the context of developing and emerging economies, including the Philippines, with consideration of current economic conditions and their impact on labor outcomes.
