This course focuses on child and adolescent development with emphasis on current research and theory on biological, linguistic, cognitive, social, and emotional dimensions of development of the learners and shall include appropriate pedagogical principles applicable for each developmental level.

This course introduces the learner to the nature and characteristics of language that are shared by all languages. It traces the development of Linguistics and emphasizes the different aspects, branches and levels of analysis (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics). It further enables the learner to delve into issues related to the use of language, including how language users construct conversations, why and how language is learned, as well as uses and motivations of language choice.
