Description: Principles, theories, and development of indexing and abstracting as well as preparation of book, journal and newspaper indexes. Advanced indexing is also introduced including image or website indexing, thesaurus construction, and preparation of abstracts.
LIS 3110 – Abstracting and Indexing is a 3-unit third-year course (2 lecture, 1 laboratory) with LIS 228 as a prerequisite. It is handled by Gresiel E. Ferrando, whose office is at the 1st Floor, Dean’s Office (IT Building), with consultation hours every Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–3:00 PM.
